Abuja, Nigeria – 5/3/2025 – Ashipa Electric, a leader in distributed energy solutions, proudly announces a strategic partnership with Wecyclers Corporation, a pioneering waste management company, to provide sustainable power for Wecyclers’ facility. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in both companies’ commitment to environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.

Under this agreement, Ashipa Electric will design, install, and manage a 1MW hybrid energy system covering an average load of 510kW to support Wecyclers’ operations. The system will integrate renewable energy sources, including photovoltaic panels, inverters, and battery storage, with a gas-powered generating plant to ensure a reliable and efficient power supply to meet Wecyclers’ power demands. Solar energy is projected to provide 30% of the facility’s annual energy needs (approximately 4,467MWh), with gas backup ensuring uninterrupted operations during low-sunlight periods.

This transition will significantly reduce Wecyclers’ reliance on grid electricity and diesel generators, leading to an estimated reduction of 883 metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually—equivalent to removing 203 gasoline-powered cars from the road each year. Additionally, the hybrid system is expected to lower Wecyclers’ energy costs by up to 35% while guaranteeing a stable power supply for its recycling operations.

“We are excited to partner with Wecyclers in their mission to revolutionize waste management in Nigeria,” said Olugbenga Ajala, CEO of Ashipa Electric. “This partnership underscores our commitment to providing innovative energy solutions that drive sustainability and efficiency.”

Ashipa Electric and Wecyclers will work closely to ensure the seamless implementation of this project, with a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) setting the framework for energy pricing and management.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Ashipa Electric to enhance our energy efficiency,” said Mr. Wale Adebiyi, CEO of Wecyclers. “Reliable and clean energy is essential to enhancing our operations and aligns with our mission to improving environmental sustainability”

The collaboration is set to commence immediately, with the installation of the power system expected to be completed in Q3 2025. Both companies are committed to exceeding stakeholder expectations and fostering a greener future.
